DeviantArt Protect: Tackling Web3 Challenges
DeviantArt Protect, our state-of-the-art image recognition technology, has scanned over 250 million NFTs across six blockchains. Since launch in August 2021, we have sent over 150,000 alerts of potential art infringements. We launched DeviantArtProtect.com to showcase real-time data of NFTs scanned, infringements detected, and alerts sent. The new site allows creatives to stay more informed about what’s going on across different blockchains. This is the first of many steps we are taking to protect artists and their art in Web3. The Challenge with Web3 To better understand Web3, let’s quickly break down Web1 and 2. Web1 was the first stage of the internet read-only websites (menu style brochure sites). Web2 is defined as the era of read-and-write websites (user-generated content platforms like DeviantArt). Web3 pledged to be a revolution of the internet, promising creators the opportunity to monetize their content and move away from a work-for-hire model and build lifelong equity
